The stories we tell ourselves and the images we see impact our sense of what is possible and what is real

My studies with the elders of the Andes is ultimately what has woven my art practice and somatic work into a process that creates somatic art. Revel Body is a somatic inquiry process that yields a portrait or symbol that you can use as a tool for contemplation or as a sigil to invoke transformation. It is a form of art therapy where we inquire and discover the image together. Then I use my relationship with water via watercolor to bring the image to life.

What we look at matters. Art is a tool to transform consciousness. Seeing images of ourself in meaningful connection with the creative, raw, erotic intelligence of the Earthbody roots us in an embodied process of ascension that is planetary.

Revel Body somatic inquiry reveals and celebrates the intimacy we all share with the Earthbody. The body is imprinted with our relationship to territory. When we slow down to listen, the stories that unfold are exquisite and the images speak for themself.

Curious about the stories your body holds?

Adorn your altar, walls or avatar to remind yourself that you, Earthbody, are in a transformation of consciousness

From this somatic query I create a portrait to resource you and to help you contemplate what emerged in our sessions. Living with the artwork provides the opportunity to be in dialog with what was revealed, to strengthen and revel in a shift of consciousness.

The above image is a self portrait called “Lake Me”. When I was growing up, we spent much of the summer at my grandparent’s cottage on Diamond Lake. Spending long swaths of time there literally kept me alive as a youngster. Long moments watching snails crawl at the bottom of the lake gave me access to states of connection that expanded beyond the aspects of human culture I found so challenging. It gave me a sense that I belong to a larger and unimaginably beautiful being- that there was much to learn beyond the cement walls of my institutionalized modern education.

My mom helped me shoot this series of images. I told her that I couldn’t possibly wear a bathing suit for this project- that swimming naked is one of the greatest pleasures of my existence. She worried about the neighbors and understood what she had to do. Later, in an exhilarated tone, I heard mom telling her sister “and we took the photos naked for the art”. It really couldn’t have happened another way. The work is meant to be exhilarating for everyone involved. Thanks mom.

When I see this image I am transported to the watery calm of being pressed to the surface, flowed through. Sun streaming in, playing a brilliant song against the sand. I am home.
